  • Step 1 Remove grate and attach bilge rat to grate
  • Step 2. Hold drain warden above the storm water outlet and lower the drain warden basin into the storm-water basin.
  • Step 3. Spread drain warden skirt onto the outer surface and position the bilge rat above the warden warden basin.
  • Step 4. Lower the grate positing the bilge rat into the drain warden basin and place the grate over the storm-water outlet.
  • Step 5. Using your feet push the grate into the storm-water basin.
  • Step 6. Allow a day for the drain warden to settle in and around the grate.
  • Step 7. Using a pen draw a line around the outer other perimeter of the grate about 10cm from the grate.
  • Step 8. Following the line that has been drawn, Use a stanley knife or scissors to cut and remove excess material from the skirt of the drain warden.
  • Step 1. After 4-5mths the drain warden will need to be removed for cleaning or replacement. Lift grate from storm-water and prepare to remove the bilge rat which is tied to the grate.
  • Step 2. Untie the bilge rat from the grate.
  • Step 3. Stand back and examine how to remove the drain warden from the storm-water outlet. The drain warden will hold up to 20L of oil and debris and therefore may weight up to 10-15kg. So proceed with caution when lifting the drain warden, considering it may fall back into the storm-water basin and need to people to retrieve it. Placing a storage container near the storm-water drain will ensure nothing is spilled from the drain warden.
  • Step 4. Remove the drain warden from the storm-water basin, making sure that you don't spill the captured debris into the storm-water basin. Remove the drain warden and place it into the container for safe disposal later.
  • Step 5. Another method of examining and taking a sample of what's been collect in the drain warden is to lay down a sheet of plastic and empty the contents of the drain warden onto it. Take a jar and keep a sample for proof that your company has not be responsible for any spill on or around your property.
  • Step6. Clean-up the contents and dispose of the waste under guidelines set by local and federal government departments.

  • The Drain Warden is designed to contain oil and sediment run-off from industrial yard sites. The Drain Warden keeps oil and other contaminants from entering the storm water system. The tubular design also captures eroded soil and wind blown debris and can be easily serviced by trained staff.
  • Keep Sediment And Other Pollutants From Entering The Water System With the Storm Drain Filter Insert- Drain Guard
  • Storm water pollution has become a major concern both locally and on a national level.  The Drain Guard removes waste from storm water before it can become a problem in the water system.
  • The Storm Drain Filter Insert- Drain Guard is a simple device designed to fit most drain catch basins. Held in place by the metal grate, it effectively removes coarse sediments, oil, grease, litter and debris from storm water. Parking lots tend to be sources of water pollution; cars and trucks drip oil and grease on to the surface which is carried into the catch basins by rain water. Most of these catch basins ultimately drain into streams, lakes, or ground water aquifers.  Great for parking lots, vehicle storage/service areas, construction sites and industrial plants.  Three catch basin drain inserts to meet your needs.
